The Opstal Manor House forms part of the De Hoop Collection and is situated in the De Hoop conservation area. The region is a World Heritage Site and a treasure-trove of natural assets, making up about 36 000 hectares of land plus 70km of pristine coastline.

Birding, hiking, mountain biking and snorkelling are some of the rewarding activities you can take part in when staying at the Opstal Manor House. There are 86 mammals, 260 migrant and resident bird species, and an estimated 1 500 plant species found in De Hoop.

The De Hoop vlei has received international recognition for the bird species found there. De Hoop is is a nature reserve that's remote, has unusual accommodation and is perfect for a complete wind down where you are at one with nature.

Not only is De Hoop a romantic location to celebrate a wedding and honeymoon but because it's a safe, outdoor destination with almost year-round sunshine, it's ideal for a family holiday. The endless beach, towering sand dunes, inter-tidal rock pools and diverse fauna and flora provide a natural playground for kids to learn.

The Fig Tree Restaurant is open all day offering delicious local fare including picnic baskets for alfresco meals. The restaurant prides itself in sourcing products from local suppliers and changing the menus often according to what is in season and available.

Picnics baskets are available for overnight guests and ready-made meals can be ordered and delivered to the Opstal Manor House.

The Opstal Manor House (previously the Ou Huis) is a beautiful original home which has been restored to its former glory and can accommodate 6 people in 3 en suite bedrooms.

Adjacent to the house are the luxury Shearing Studio and the Stable Suite, which both offer 1 en suite bedroom.
