De Hoop is made up of a wide range of accommodation situated in the De Hoop conservation area. The De Hoop Nature Reserve is a 36 000-hectare World Heritage Site and a treasure-trove of natural assets that includes over 70km of pristine coastline.
Because De Hoop is a safe, outdoor destination with almost year-round sunshine, it's ideal for a family holiday. The endless beach, towering sand dunes, inter-tidal rock pools and diverse fauna and flora provide a natural playground for kids to learn in.
Discerning self-catering guests can bring along a group of friends and enjoy a private, relaxed getaway together.
The De Hoop cottages comprise 7 Opstal Equipped Cottages, 3 Vlei Cottages, 2 Opstal Houses, the Melkkamer Vlei Cottage, the Melkkamer Foreman's Cottage, Koppie Alleen and the Opstal Manor House.
Birding, hiking, dune walks, mountain biking and snorkelling are some of the activities you can take part in when staying at De Hoop. There are 86 mammal species, 260 migrant and resident bird species and 1 500 plant species found in the reserve.
De Hoop is is a nature reserve that's remote, has unusual accommodation and is perfect for a complete wind down where you are at one with nature.
De Hoop accommodation is self-catering and all the cottages have fully equipped kitchens giving the freedom to choose whether you'd prefer a private meal with friends in the comfort of your luxury cottage, or enjoy delectable cuisine at the reserve's splendid Fig Tree Restaurant.
The Fig Tree Restaurant is open all day offering delicious local fare including picnic baskets for alfresco meals. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing products from local suppliers and changing the menus often according to what's in season and available.
De Hoop is made up of the following cottages:
Opstal Equipped Cottages - there are 7 cottages: 6 cottages have 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and 1 cottage (Eland) has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. All the cottages have a fully equipped kitchen, lounge/dining area, and outdoor braai and dining area.
Vlei Cottages - there are 3 cottages: all the cottages have 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge/dining area, and outdoor braai and dining area.
Opstal Houses - there are 2 houses: Both the houses have 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge/dining area, fireplace, and outdoor braai and dining area.
Melkkamer Vlei Cottage - the cottage has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge/dining area, fireplace, and outdoor braai and dining area. There's no electricity in the cottage but there is a gas fridge/freezer, gas stove/oven, basic crockery and cutlery, basic kitchen utensils, sink and braai equipment.
Melkkamer Foreman's Cottage - the cottage has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, lounge/dining area, fireplace, and outdoor braai and dining area. There's no electricity in the cottage but there is a gas fridge/freezer, gas stove/oven, basic crockery and cutlery, basic kitchen utensils, sink and braai equipment.
Koppie Alleen - the cottage has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge/dining area, and outdoor braai and dining area. There's no electricity in the cottage but there is a gas fridge/freezer, gas stove/oven, basic crockery and cutlery, basic kitchen utensils, sink, conventional braai and braai equipment.
The Opstal Manor House - (previously the Ou Huis) accommodates 6 people in 3 en suite bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. All meals are included and are served in the Fig Tree Restaurant.
