The Eastern Cape is situated between South Africa's two most popular provinces, along the middle third of South Africa's eastern coast. Though this is a terribly unfortunate fact, the Eastern Cape itself is a South African province very often bypassed by tourists.
The Eastern Cape has enough attractive towns, brimming nature reserves and spectacular geological features to make it a tourist favourite, if only the tourist industry would listen. Jeffrey's Bay is a top surf spot, the Addo Elephant Park an excellent safari destination, Grahamstown a cultural icon, the Karoo an expanse of sparse natural beauty, and the Wild Coast one of the least developed, most exciting and beautiful regions in South Africa.
