With panoramic views across the undulating scrubland of the Karoo and the Blaauwbosch private game reserve, is the spacious Blaauwbosch lodge. Decorated in light earthy tones, with accents of wood and cool polished floors, the thatched buildings are a comfortable place to relax between game drives and meal times.

With the Big 5, as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra, various antelope and a plethora of birds to be seen, the game drives are often the highlight of your stay. Riding in open, 4x4 viewing vehicles, ask your ranger anything about your environment and more than likely he will know the answer. He also knows the best positions from which to watch the amazing sunsets before setting out on a night drive. For a different angle on the African bush, try the "walk and stalk”, where you shadow local cheetah on foot, as they hunt their prey.

When the heat of the day hits however, you can return to the shade of your private veranda, or plunge into the refreshing swimming pool.

It is also worth remembering that Blaauwbosch will arrange land and air transfers for you from Port Elizabeth, Plettenberg Bay or Knysna.

Late but substantial breakfasts are served after you have worked up an appetite on an early morning game drive through the Blaauwberg reserve.
