The Elephant Coast is a wild and untamed region spilling north from the Dolphin Coast in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. The area consists of 200 kilometres of undisturbed beach front, the most part of which is still only accessible by 4WD Vehicles.
The area is an eerie mix of untamed landscapes and superstition, with many ancestral lands of the Zulu and Tsonga haunting the landscape. Traditional life has survived in this forgotten corner of South Africa and the area has been reported to house more sangomas (spirit mediums and traditional healers) than anywhere else in South Africa.
The Elephant Coast is bordered in the northwest by the Ubombo Mountains, in the East by the Indian Ocean and in the south by the Umfolozi River. There is only one tarred road leading into the area.
