Being active in the beautiful outdoors is hungry and thirsty work, and part of the fun is finding the best places to replenish that lost energy. Luckily the people of the Garden Route know this and cater accordingly.

Knysna oysters are world-famous and don't you dare leave this part of the world without at least trying one (or 10). They are so good, they even have their own festival in July. (read more about when to visit the Garden Route)

Naturally, seafood is plentiful and fresh with many excellent restaurants offering smacks-of-the-sea seafood. Don't worry; there's a wide range of fine restaurants in this region to suit every palate.

To narrow down the array of options, don't hesitate to ask the friendly locals for their recommendations. Or read about our recommendation in our travel article, Gastronomic Garden Route.

Either way you won't go hungry or thirsty in these parts and with such beautiful surrounds, many a meal will be enjoyed with stunning views - they just seem to make everything taste better.
