The Garden Route's Elephant Sanctuary

The Knysna elephants are the stuff of myth and legend. That they existed is fact, that a few still roam the forest is where the legend comes in.

Where you are guaranteed to see elephants is at the Elephant Sanctuary (next to Birds of Eden). This is where young elephants that were rescued from poachers are being cared for and rehabilitated.

In this caring environment you're able to walk with the elephants, feed the elephants and touch the elephants as you learn about these giant creatures from knowledgeable guides.

The elephants live in a large open field giving them plenty of space to stretch their large legs. This is a great experience for the whole family.
