The best way to enjoy the rugged coastline and lush forest is to walk it, and The Otter Trail has been one of South Africa's most popular hikes for years.

The Otter Trail which traverses beach, mountain and forest along the Tsitsikamma National Park's coastline is an experience I enjoyed so much that I had to do it more than once. A multitude of nature's secrets draws me back time and again - it's the rugged and dramatic way that the land meets the sea, the stillness and quiet of the deep forest, and the rare opportunity of seeing a Cape Clawless Otter in its natural environment - Go2Africa Safari Expert Derek Boshard

Taking in 42 stunning kilometres of coast and forest over five days, it follows the coastline from Storms River Rest Camp to Nature's Valley.

Demand is high and numbers are limited so you'll need to book well in advance or get very lucky. We suggest the former.
