The name Nature's Valley conjures up images of giant indigenous trees, clear rivers, calm lagoons and isolated beaches, and that's exactly what you'll find in this quiet, beautiful getaway.
Hiking, cycling, canoeing, swimming or long walks on the beach, this is the perfect place to recharge your batteries and get close to nature. You won't be alone though; the array of birds in these parts is spectacular.
The mighty gorge of the Groot ('great') River, densely overgrown with indigenous forest, posed a serious challenge to the would-be makers of a major road through the area. Their answer was a spectacular winding pass that hairpins its way down to the river, the tiny village of Nature's Valley and the beach.
At its mouth, the river forms an attractive dark-water lagoon which then spills out to the sea over a wide, sandy beach. What better name to call this area than Nature's Valley?
The Groot River forms the western boundary of the untouched Tsitsikamma National Park, which extends all the way to the Storms River Mouth.
In the forest you'll encounter a world of giant yellowwoods, forest ferns, clear streams and magnificent birds.
But head towards the sea and you'll get a completely different picture, where the dominant features are a narrow coastal strip with massive cliffs and isolated beaches.
