Samara Lodge is situated in the malaria-free Great Karoo, and combines well with trips along the Garden Route. It offers you a secluded retreat within the beautiful Karoo landscape.

The lodge is a splendid homestead, combining a mix of colonial and Karoo-style decor. Complete with long, wide verandas decorated in tasteful, light colours and touches of Africa, the decor is rounded off with Nguni Cattle cushions, zebra skins, and wood and wicker furniture under the reed ceilings.

Between exciting safaris, you can have a rejuvenating massage in the privacy of your room, or cool off in the swimming pool. If you prefer something more active, you can make use of the tennis courts.

Samara Private Game Reserve offers various suites, some within the main lodge, and some free-standing Karoo-style cottages. All the suites echo the colonial farm-style of the main lodge.

Samara has also recently added 2 new Sibella Suites in honour of their rescued cheetah who has contributed 18 cubs to the cheetah population of South Africa since 2004. The beautiful suites overlook a glorious waterhole abundant with bird and animal life and are decorated with lovely photographs of encounters with Sibella.
