Groenkloof Nature Reserve is the oldest nature reserve in South Africa and the second oldest in the world. Groenkloof was originally started in 1894 as a 'no hunting zone' for the protection of the oribi, a dwarf antelope. It now provides a haven for such species as blesbok, zebra, blue wildebeest, kudu and impala.

Groenkloof Nature Reserve offers hiking and biking trails and also has an overnight hut for those wishing to do two-day hiking and biking trails.
