Hippo Hollow Country Estate has an 'Out of Africa' feel about it, and leaves you totally relaxed and refreshed. The lodge is situated on the Sabi RIver just outside Hazyview and is a great stop-over before or after a visit to the Kruger National Park.

Relax in the extensive gardens in a hammock or watch the hippos, crocodiles and other wildlife congregate at the river. Large centrally positioned swimming pools provides a welcome respite from the heat of the lowveld sun.

From Hippo Hollow, you can join a morning or evening open-vehicle safari to the Kruger Park, or you can explore the park in the comfort of your own vehicle. Other activities to enjoy include horse riding, river rafting, fishing and scenic helicopter flights over the Blyde River Canyon.

The restaurant and bar provide a spectacular view of the Sabi River, the sight of kingfishers and other beautiful water birds, as well as hippos grazing on the lawns, often enhances dinners.

Delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served in the restaurant, with an emphasis on fresh country fare and exotic african meats. Meals are accompanied by South African wines selected from the wine cellar.

The 63 units include 18 family chalets with great views of the river and 19 twin bedded chalets situated in a subtropical garden. Hippo Hollow's chalets are semi-self catering, with a gas barbeque and kitchenette facility. Hippo Hollow also has 26 en-suite hotel rooms.
