Summerfields is set on a rose, macadamia nut and litchi tree farm, in a secluded valley just 10km from the world famous Kruger National Park.

The luxury tented suites and lapa-style lounge area have been built above the Sabie River and, from the large wooden deck, you can spot a variety of birdlife and even the occasional hippo.

Summerfields Rose Farm is famous for its long-stem tea roses which are arranged throughout the lodge, adding an extra splash of colour and beauty. Activities on the 100ha estate include magnificent rose tunnel tours, and walks through the macadamia plantations or along the riverbank.

During your stay we recommend that you spend some time in the spacious, riverside spa pavilion. The Summerfields signature treatment includes a steam pack shower, followed by a macadamia exfoliation, a Vichy shower and a rose oil massage.

In the immediate vicinity of the river lodge are all the adventure activities you could possibly wish for. Choose between guided game drives during the day or evenings; mountain bike and hiking trials; tree-canopy aerial walkways; horse trails along the Sabie River or moving along at wind speed in a hot-air balloon with wrap-around views of the earth and sky.

The diverse menu at Summerfields River Lodge is influenced by in-season produce, which is supplied by local farmers and gathered from the restaurant's own garden.

Chef Lienkie Erasmus prepares fresh, tasty and healthy meals and everything, from the chutneys and mayonnaise to the bread and pasties, is homemade.

Firm favourites at Summerfields Kitchen restaurant include lamb cutlets with rosemary potatoes, crocodile curry and for dessert, pavlova with Chantilly cream.

Picnic baskets can be arranged when going on all day activities like game drives or river rafting.

Summerfields River Lodge consists of 12 exclusive tented suites sheltered by a canopy of jackalberry and tambotie trees.

Each luxurious suite ensures total privacy while relaxing on the deck with views of the Sabie River. All units are air-conditioned with additional roof fans, have double vanities, an outdoor shower and a luxury bath with a view.

The finer touches include specially designed furniture, percale linen, home-baked biscuits, and the fragrance of fresh cut roses from the farm. Each suite also has its own iPod and speakers, with playlists to accommodate all tastes.
