The little farming community of Hluhluwe originated as a railway station serving the local community as a transport depot for their produce. Today it is the tourism staging post for the northern regions of KwaZulu Natal, including Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park and the St Lucia Reserve.
This sub-tropical village is also an intensively farmed commercial centre for pineapples, sugar, sisal and timber.
