Makaranga Garden Lodge is set in a 30 acre private botanical garden, filled with local and exotic plants as well as a multitude of local birds and small animals.

Wander along the garden paths and through forests of Makaranga trees as you admire the Zimbabwean and Italian sculptures. Enjoy the serenity of the traditional Japanese gardens, with its stone lanterns and little wooden bridges or just relax next to the natural rock swimming pool.

Those in a more energetic mood, can take advantage of the bowling green, or travel to nearby Zulu craft centres or one of the 15 nature conservancies in the area.

Makaranga itself is luxuriously decorated with thick carpets, original artwork and hand painted murals. The staff here are friendly and happy to look after any requirements you may have during your stay, and are more than willing to give you ideas of what to do in the area.

Wild Poplar Restaurant offers fine dining and table d'hote dinners in the elegant dining room, whereas the Tuscan Terrace offers more relaxed buffet breakfasts and lunches, overlooking the water lilies in Venus Pond.

The Tuscan Terrace also offers morning and afternoon teas, complete with cream scones.

There are ten deluxe rooms at Makaranga Garden Lodge with a choice of twins or doubles.
