Londolozi is a family-run private reserve located at the heart of the Sabi Sands Reserve.
Over 80 years of Varty family history is tied to the history of the Londolozi wilderness and its wildlife. At first a hunting farm for royalty and presidents, the farm underwent a fundamental shift of consciousness. In the early 1970s, the farm was renamed Londolozi, the Zulu word for 'protector of all living things'.
Thirty years of eco-tourism and progressive environmental policies later, Londolozi Reserve has become a benchmark in conservation with a fundamental focus on benefiting the land, wildlife and local communities.
Big game viewing is excellent at Londolozi. Simply sitting on the deck enjoying breakfast can turn into a big five experience as you watch elephant and buffalo grazing in the valley below. White rhino and lion concentrations are also amongst the highest recorded on the African continent.
What really sets Londolozi apart from the rest of the Sabi Sands though is the relationship it enjoys with Leopards. Over three decades of interaction between Londolozi Rangers and leopards has forged a deep bond between the two that is difficult to find anywhere else in the Kruger. Typically the most elusive of animals, Leopards are more easily encountered at Londolozi than anywhere else in Africa.
Londolozi is renowned as the first game reserve to ever be granted Relais et Chateaux status. Five exclusive camps dot the reserve - Tree Camp, Pioneer Camp, Varty Camp and Founders Camp.
A relatively new introduction to Londolozi is the Private Granite Suites - the ultimate in a private luxury wilderness experience. All Londolozi accommodation is luxurious and intimate without any pretence. The family feel to the lodge makes it a comfortable home away from home experience.

"Londolozi is the original game lodge that inspired many others, certainly that is unchanging. |
"Just wanted to let you know that we are back from our honeymoon and we had a spectacular time.
"All of the hotels were great - the staff were amazing, especially at Pioneer Camp - they really provided us with the most spectacular honeymoon - candlelit baths and private dinners, plus an amazing dinner outside of the camp with dancers and wine pairings and amazing food.
"I would recommend Londolozi particularly to anyone."
Jayne Banks, Go2Africa Traveller (March 2009)
"The animal viewing at Londolozi was great, Kenny took over 600 pictures.
"We also loved the set up at Varty Camp; the rooms were so incorporated into nature that you felt like you were really in the bush. The private deck with plunge pool was also an added treat - I told Kenny that I felt like one of the animals that we went to see because when the sun came out, we retreated to our rooms for a nap and laid out on our decks by the plunge pool. It was so relaxing there, it was more relaxing than a beach vacation."
Cindy Lee, Go2Africa Traveller (Feb 2009)
"We were especially happy with Londolozi. They upgraded us to a Granite Suite, which was amazing!"
