The rules of the Kruger National Park are there for the protection of its visitors as well as the animals and the environment. Traffic officials patrol the park and are permitted to issue fines.
If you see someone violating one of the rules of the park, please take down their details, including the date, time, place, the vehicle's registration number and your contact details and send them to raymond@sanparks.org. The Kruger National Park appreciates the help of its visitors in enforcing these rules.
The speed limit in the Kruger Park is 50km/hour on paved roads, 40km/hour on gravel roads, and 20km/hour in rest camps. Drive faster and you risk running something over or even running into trouble with the park's larger pedestrians. You certainly won't see any animals if you speed.
Just because there are no traffic lights or road markings doesn't mean normal driving no longer applies. Remember, driving in South Africa is on the left side of the road.
Keep noise levels down, both on the road and in the camps. Loud voices and music scare the animals and irritate visitors who have come to the park for peace and natural serenity.
