On this Kruger Park Walking Trail you will be introduced to a true wilderness walking safari. The tour starts from a luxury safari lodge and takes you to a wilderness camp, where you even have the chance to 'sleep out' on an elevated wooden platform. As you become more accustomed to the bush, you will enter increasingly remote areas, slowly leaving behind the trappings of civilisation.
- Day 1: Rhino Post Safari Lodge, Kruger Park
- Itinerary
Arrive at Rhino Post Safari Lodge in the Kruger Park in the late afternoon in time for a delicious high tea and an evening game drive. Get into the safari spirit with sundowners, watching an African sunset and spotting nocturnal animals in the park. Back at the lodge, enjoy a sumptuous dinner on the deck or in the dry riverbed, accompanied by the night sounds of the bush.
Rhino Post Safari Lodge is located in 12 000 hectares of pristine bushveld in the only official wilderness concession awarded in the Kruger National Park. The environmentally sensitive concession is largely unexplored, with a huge diversity of flora & fauna. Set on the banks of the Mutlumuvi Riverbed at the southern end of the concession, the elegant 8 suite (16 bed) Rhino Post Safari Lodge is built using natural materials, such as stone, wood, thatch and canvas.
Stilts raise the spaciously appointed suites from the riverbank allowing guests to view the Mutlumuvi riverbed with ease from the bedroom, bathroom and private wooden deck. The suites are set out in an open plan style with wooden floors, thatched roofs, canvas walls and a ceiling fan. The dining area, set under Tamboti trees, allows for al fresco dinners, cool lunches in the heat of a summer afternoon and snug winter dining. Candlelight riverbed dinners and breakfasts are a wonderful, alternative bush experience. Both the swimming pool and lounge overlook a busy waterhole.
