You could also enjoy an excitingearly morning game drive with an expert ranger or indulge in bird watching. In fact, Madikwe has a vast diversity of birds with over 300 species recorded so far. If you go on a bush walk, your guide will explain the medicinal value of the trees and plants, delight you with stories of the magical powers often attributed to them, identify grass and bird species and pick the bitter-sweet fruit of a Marula for you to taste.

If you are fascinated by planets, the solar system or the wonder of the Southern skies, you could partake in an evening of stargazing using Etali's telescope.

Etali's cuisine is a contemporary fusion of traditional African with an Asian twist. Meals are light and healthy with lots of fresh seasonal and organically grown vegetables, fruit and herbs. There is no set menu as the chef extraordinaire selects only the best local produce daily to work his magic. Etali house wines are supplied by Glenwood Estate.

Other than fine dining in the dining room or main deck, Etali also offers traditional South African dinners in the 'lesaka' kraal built in stone, (Tswana elders used to gather in lesaka to discuss tribal issues), close to the waterhole. Etali has a site where they serve bush breakfasts and dinners, weather permitting.

Etali Safari Lodge offers 8 luxurious air-conditioned suites, each set apart for total privacy in its own bushveld domain.

Familes can opt for The Family Suite, and, if you have teenagers, the lodge offers 2 slightly smaller back-to-back rooms. These 2 rooms are the only in the camp that have a connecting deck, yet, they do not have an outside shower. However, they share a heated plunge pool.

The mix of cool and earthy colours in the decor is a peaceful contrast to the unsurpassed beauty of the sweet-thorn Acacia trees outside. You could soak away in the partner bath and enjoy a relaxing bath therapy prepared by the lodge's therapist while big, comfortable beds with fine crisp linen await you.
