Mapelane Nature Reserve

Mapelane is a delightfully remote hideaway lying just across the estuary from St Lucia Village on the southern bank of the Umfolozi River. It offers the opportunity for some beautiful walks through the tropical forest and bush.

Mapelane's lovely small bay, with its tranquil surroundings, is an idyllic spot. The warm waters are excellent for ski boating and surf fishing, and there are plenty of opportunities to see lots of its 200 colourful species of birds.
