A charming homestead in the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the heart of the Little Karoo.
Take the Family - the lodge provides activities for children and is fenced off for protection.
Space to Explore - see the white lions while searching for rock art and marine fossils.
Homestead Accommodation - countryhouse built on a small footprint for conservation.
Situated in the scenic Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, Gondwana Lodge offers endless views over the plains of Bellair Dam and onto Anysberg mountains. The Sanbona Reserve is only 3 hour's drive from Cape Town, on Route 62, between the towns of Barrydale and Montagu.
Sanbona is one of the largest privately owned game reserves in South Africa and is home to the only free-roaming white lions in the world. You'll also encounter lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, white rhino, giraffe, diverse antelope species and small game as well as buffalo during your game drives through the reserve.
Gondwana Lodge resembles a thatched Karoo homestead complete with family rooms, children's activity room, large lawn, outdoor play area, and a swimming pool.
The lodge - which is fenced off from the free-roaming animals - provides an exciting Kids on Safari programme for children of all ages. The programme is filled with outdoor trails, visits to sites where the San people left their legacy on the rock faces at Sanbona, and a range of other sporting and arts & crafts activities.
While the children are being entertained you can indulge yourself at the lodge's Relaxation Retreats with a rejuvenating massage, or go on game drives, nature walks and do some bird-watching. Alternatively, sip on a chilled glass of wine in the lounge next to a cozy fireplace or under the stars in the open-air boma.
Gondwana Lodge is located in Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, Little Karoo in South Africa's Western Cape.
