Innkeepers Peter and Jean Brown acquired Eight Bells 28 years ago, and, together with members of their family and staff, have created a charming Inn renowned for its friendly hospitality and great recreational facilities amidst magnificent mountain scenery.
The main building houses the reception office, lounge, Bosun's Whistle Pub, The Oak Room Restaurant, billiard and darts room, children's lounge, enclosed sun room and exterior patio area.
Situated on a 400-acre estate, outdoor facilities consist of a bell-shaped swimming pool with small kiddies pool and a thatched boma, 2 all-weather tennis courts, a glass-back squash court, bowling green, The Rooster walking trails (marked & colour coded) and horse trails. Swimming towels, a map of the Rooster Trails, horse riding hats and equipment for the different sports facilities are available from the hotel's reception, and books on birds and flowers are kept at reception for your reference.

DiningBreakfast, consisting of a buffet and a cooked English breakfast, is served in The Oak Room Restaurant.
Mid-morning and high tea is served on the house for guests at 11:00 and 16:00 respectively. Beverages, teatime treats, light snacks and a mini-à -la-carte menu are available throughout the day and are served in the gardens, at the pool or on the enclosed patio.
Dinner in the The Oak Room Restaurant offers a choice of either an a-la-carte or table d'hote menu. The wine list has a selection of 80 of South Africa's finest wines with a carefully researched description of each wine.
The Bosun's Whistle Pub opens in the evenings for resident guests.

En-suite rooms, thatched rondavels and alpine chalets are set in gardens shared by an abundance of birdlife. Each unit has a private bathroom, TV (SABC 1, 2 & 3 and M-Net), radio and direct-dial telephone. All the bedrooms are carpeted and cotton blankets and 100% cotton percale linen are used in all the bedrooms.
Swiss Village - only adults are accommodated in these alpine timberlog cabins with mountain views and privacy, decorated in a subtle "Out of Africa" scheme, and each cabin has it's own sundeck, under-floor heating, air-conditioning and bathroom with bath and hand shower.
Suite: Glarus - children under 10 years of age are not accommodated in this new addition to Eight Bells Mountain Inn, which is an Alpine timber-log cabin with 2 bedrooms (1 queen & 1 twin-bedded), a bathroom with a shower above the bath, a lounge, air-conditioning, under-floor heating and a large sundeck which extends across the front of the cabin with a view over the mountains.
Palm Court Rooms - decorated in a Kashmir scheme of burgundy, navy and cream shades and situated in a courtyard-style thatched wing with a garden, these bedrooms each leads out onto it's own enclosed patio, and 4 of the bedrooms have their own external patio, while the family suite and king-bedded room have under-floor heating and some rooms have extra-length beds.
Pool Terrace - decorated in a scheme of jade and olive damask and fresh sunny fabrics, this is a thatched wing consisting of family suites and rondavels nestled near the swimming pool, of which 2 of the rondavels are ideal for honeymooners and one has under-floor heating.
Rose Court - decorated in soft olive green damask, daisy and Mirabelle fabrics with under-floor heating, this wing of north-facing bedrooms and 2 East African themed, thatched rondavels is enhanced by a quaint garden setting without a mountain view.
