La Plume Guest House is a working ostrich and alfalfa farm with vineyards, situated just outside the centre of Oudtshoorn. Overlooking spectacular views of the Swartberg Mountains and Olifants River Valley, this charming guest house makes for a scenic and relaxing getaway.

This graceful Victorian homestead dates back to 1902, with fine antique furniture, woodwork and spaciousness evoking an elegant bygone era. You can enjoy fine local wine and traditional hearty home-cooked cuisine. There is a salt-water swimming pool on the property and you can go on private farm tours with Bartel. La Plume won an AA Award in 2002.

There are many attractions within and around Oudtshoorn, including many fine restaurants, tours through the fascinating Cango Caves and incredible mountain passes with awesome sheer drops and hair pin bends leading down to great echoing canyons. Alternatively, you could visit Cheetahland, the local crocodile farm, or even try your hand at ostrich riding.
