The small towns of Riebeek-Kasteel and Riebeek-Wes are situated in a beautiful agricultural area about 75km northeast of Cape Town known as the Swartland because of its rich, dark soil.

Riebeek-Kasteel is the prettier of the two towns that sit right next to each other. Riebeek-Kasteel is dominated by the traditional white church with the tall steeple. It also has a central square surrounded by craft shops, little boutiques and some quaint country restaurants.

Riebeek-Kasteel and Riebeek-Wes host the olive festival every year which is very popular and showcases local wines, art and olives of course.

The colours of the vineyards and wheatfields vary during the year, making the area into a rural patchwork quilt reminiscent of an oil painting.
