Located on one of the most elevated sites overlooking the Sand River, Kirkman's Kamp has spectacular views of unspoiled wilderness as far as the eye can see. Kirkman's Camp was named in honour of W. Harry Kirkman, one of South Africa's foremost conservationists, who began his illustrious career as a Ranger on Toulon, Mala Mala's neighbouring farm.

This historic and famous camp, which was originally built in the early 1920's, is a safari experience dedicated to the yester-year of bushveld style. Positioned around an original Victorian Homestead, a stay here will take you back to a time of hunting parties, tea on the lawn, and ball-and-claw baths.

Kirkman's Kamp is part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, an area known to have the greatest diversification of animal species on the African continent. Guests at Kirkman's Camp are able to see over 200 different animal species including the big five - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo - as well as cheetah, hippo, giraffe, a great variety of small animals, and a wealth of birdlife. The ever-changing birdlife will provide even the most experienced ornithologist with rare finds. Game drives at Kirkman's Camp are made memorable not only by the 'Big 5', but also due to the fact that, with exclusive traversing rights on the property, guests see only Kirkman's Camp vehicles. At full capacity there will be a maximum of 6 game viewers out on game drives, preserving the solitude of the African bushveld.

The colonial homestead consists of a large lounge, decorated in 1920 style, leading through double French doors onto rolling lawns that provide a velvety contrast to the wild and tumbling bush surrounding the camp. A safari bar, swimming pool, tennis court (racquets and balls available), boutique, bush gymnasium, safety deposit facilities and the internet are also available.

Kirkman's Kamp boasts excellent accessibility with Skukuza Airstrip only 5 minutes drive away. The transfer from the airstrip to the camp is complimentary. Self-drive options are also hugely popular due to the excellent road conditions.

Kirkman's Kamp is on 6200 hectares (12 400 acres) in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve on the Southern border of the Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.

Dinner is a very special event at Kirkman's Kamp and is served under the stars in the boma around a roaring campfire.

Weather permitting, bush dinners can also be arranged. Breakfast and lunch are either served in the main house, on the shady surrounding verandas, or you can choose to enjoy them privately on your own veranda.

An authentic old South African homestead feel is cherished in each of the 18 luxury cottages, accommodating a maximum of 36 guests.

Each cottage at Kirkman's Kamp is furnished in the same style as the main house and includes an en-suite bathroom with ball-and-claw bath, separate shower, insect-proof screening on all windows and sliding doors, private verandas with magnificent views overlooking the bush, air-conditioning, heating, a ceiling fan, in-room safe, purified water, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar.

Hair-dryers, bathrobes, shampoo, bath oil and body lotions are also supplied and there is a free laundry service if you stay 2 or more nights. Rooms have an international direct dial telephone and room service is available.
