Singita, in the Sabi Sand Reserve, is a world-renowned section of African wilderness adjacent to the Kruger National Park. No fences exist between Sabi and Kruger, and the lie of the land is well-suited to game viewing, with open expanses of grassland and groves of acacia thornveld.

Singita Boulders Lodge lies in the heart of this private reserve, on the banks of the Sand River. The lodge is built in a unique and contemporary style, inspired by the rough natural geometry of the rocks around it. Large timber decks overlook the surrounding bush, where monkeys play in the trees and herds of elephant occasionally wander by.

Days at the lodge start early, just as the sky begins to lighten. You can view game at sunrise and sunset from open safari vehicles, accompanied by a professional game ranger and skilled Shangaan tracker. Radio contact brings you reports of the latest game sightings, increasing your chance of spotting the Big 5. The Sabi Sand Reserve has a well-earned reputation for excellent leopard sightings.

The rest of the day is yours at leisure to go on a guided game walk, relax in a steam bath or visit the local village. Singita's health consultant can arrange a massage on your private deck, or in the health spa. At dusk, a ranger escorts you safely from your suite to the open-air boma (reeded enclosure), for pre-dinner drinks around a log fire.

The chef at Singita Boulders Lodge creates a variety of dishes, ranging form contemporary African cuisine to modern European delicacies. Examples of his African-Style Haute Cuisine include chermoula marinated tiger prawns with avocado salsa, or ostrich fillet with a cinnamon espresso jus.

The choice of venue is yours: a bush breakfast under the Marula trees, starlight supper alongside the boma fire, or candlelit dinner on your private deck.

Singita is a wine lovers' paradise with a huge wine cellar containing approximately 35 000 bottles of fine South African wines.

Singita Boulders Lodge has 12 luxurious suites, each with an outdoor leisure deck and private plunge pool overlooking the Sabie River.

These spacious suites are decorated in earthy tones, with lovely artifacts scattered throughout. The bedrooms feature king sized beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, and there is a comfortable living area.

The real highlight though is the glass-fronted bathroom, where you can relax in a huge, ball-and-claw tub, looking out over the surrounding bush.
