Lion Sands River Lodge has an outstanding location on the banks of the Sabie River, in the southern section of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, an area well known for its spectacular game viewing. You don't even have to leave the lodge for excellent sightings; it's not uncommon to spot an elephant or giraffe while relaxing in a lounger alongside the swimming pool.

This Big 5 safari area is exclusive to guests of Lion Sands, so you won't be stuck with crowds of other vehicles. Lion, elephant, white rhino, leopard, cheetah, buffalo and wild dog are all frequently spotted, and drivers will even take you off road to find some of the rarer animals. Between game viewing activities you can treat yourself to a session at the lodge health spa.

Lion Sands River Lodge has 12 thatched Luxury Suites, and 8 Superior Suites, each with a private viewing deck overlooking the Sabie River.

The interiors are cream, with a touch of African fabric and wooden carvings, and the large, comfortable beds are draped with white mosquito netting, to ensure a peaceful night's sleep. The bathrooms have pebble-inlaid floors, and both outdoor and inside showers.
