Salmonsdam Nature Reserve has been closed to the public for many months now. Although efforts are underway to open it again, the park managers are uncertain when this will occur.
Spring is the best time to visit this reserve to see the vast variety of flowering plants. Salmonsdam, not far from Hermanus, also contains specimens of most of the game indigenous to the area such as the unusual brown and white bontebok and wildebeest.
Take a drive to the summit of Ravenshill from where there is a fine view of the countryside or go hiking in search of the strange zigzag waterfall.
