Spend the day cycling past vineyards and sampling delicious wines.
The vineyards of Stellenbosch are world-renowned; people come here from far and wide to taste exquisite wines, and appreciate the peaceful surroundings. Unfortunately, most just see the scenery as a green blur flashing past their car window.
A cycling tour may sound like hard work, but the roads are pretty easy and you only need a moderate level of fitness. You cycle around 14 to 20km between farms (3 to 6 farms), with a stop for lunch in between.
This really is a great way to appreciate the area; sample some excellent wines; try interesting pairings of cheese & wine and biltong & wine; breathe fresh air and make a few new friends.
Another fantastic plus is that you contribute towards upliftment of the local people. All the farms visited are involved in fair labour practices, and a portion of every payment goes towards the Lynedoch School's Child Leadership Programme which sends disadvantaged children on leadership programmes that will better their future.
