Sun City Travel Guide

Set in rather arid surrounds, the Sun City resort is an oasis of lush vegetation, groomed golf courses, glam nightlife and relaxing poolside days.

About two hours' drive northwest of Johannesburg, Sun City is located in the North West Province of South Africa. The area surrounding Sun City was formerly known as the homeland of Bophuthatswana which was classified as an independent state by South Africa's apartheid regime, and it was because if this independence that gambling was allowed to take place here.

Sun City is conveniently situated on the southern boundary of the Pilanesberg National Park, one of South Africa's best safari destinations.
