Tswalu Game Reserve is situated near Kuruman in north-eastern South Africa, with a fascinating landscape of the Kalahari desert and the spectacular Korannaberg mountains as a backdrop.
At a huge, sprawling 900 km2, Tswalu is one of the largest private game reserves in Africa. It has the added advantage of being malaria-free. Wildlife here includes the highly endangered desert rhino, lion, white rhino, king cheetah, giraffe and cape buffalo.
Smaller animals like ant bears, bat-eared fox and brown and spotted hyenas can also be seen. The birdlife is also rich and varied - more than 250 different species of birds can be seen; from the secretary bird and Kori bustard (the largest flying bird in the world) to large colonies of sociable weavers.
