Villiersdorp

A bridge carries the road to Villersdorp across the narrow middle of the beautiful Theewaterskloof Dam. In winter, the surrounding mountain peaks are often capped by snow.

The nature reserve on the outskirts of Villiersdorp gives a wonderful display of 60 species of protea, including the giant King Protea, with blooms almost half a metre across.

The mountain pass leading to Villiersdorp is stunning, and the valleys are full of farms where trees droop with the weight of full, ripe fruits.
