Aquila Private Game Reserve offers game-viewing in a unique and beautiful part of the Karoo, just 2hrs away from Cape Town.

The lodge is positioned to enjoy views of the Karoo landscape, where game can be spotted roaming across the open plains and hills from the lounge, dining area and bar.

In summer, the pool area is a great place to lounge during the heat of midday, where you can enjoy cooling off in the saltwater pool, or take in the Karoo sun from your deckchair. The game is not far off, with a crocodile enclosure situated just in front of the pool area, and the cheetahs located around the corner.

The enthusiastic and knowledgeable rangers will guide your game drives around the reserve, where sightings of elephant, lion (in their separate 1000ha enclosure), buffalo and rhino are common. Plains game may also be seen grazing through the low bushes, and hippos wallow in the dams.

A great way to experience the game is on horseback or quad-bike safari, where you get the chance to get close to the smaller game and unique vegetation.

The Restaurant boma has been built using only natural materials, giving it a distinctly African feel, and large fireplaces will keep you warm as you enjoy buffet meals.

There a 2 bars at Aquila, where you can enjoy sundowners and excellent views. After an afternoon by the pool, enjoy a drink in the Pool Bar, or relax at the Cigar Bar after dinner.

There are 30 cottages at Aquila Private Game Reserve. The rooms all have en-suite bathroom facilities, with separate outdoor showers. For chilly winter nights, the cottages all have cosy fireplaces where you can keep warm.
