The Swazi nation is in a state of transition, with the traditionalists wanting to hold on to the present state of an absolute monarchy while others are calling for reforms to the present system.
The Swazi people are very proud of their culture and are determined to save the culture from the threats of westernisation.
Swaziland was a British protectorate for much of the 20th century and this influence is evident in the fact that English is widely spoken in the country. The main language here though is Siswati, an Nguni language very similar to Zulu.
