Traditional crafts of the Swazi culture are available to purchase. Street stalls are crammed with tall giraffes and other wooden sculptures.

The most eye catching items are the bright hand woven baskets in zig-zag designs of greens, purples, yellows and reds. These include liqhaga, bottles woven from grass that are used to carry water, and woven grass mats.

Wooden items including bowls, knobkerries (decoratively carved walking sticks), jewellery and pottery are also common souvenirs.

Swazi glassware is of excellent quality and distinct style. There are a number of factory shops from where glassware can be purchased.

Fact: Traditional grass baskets can be so closely woven they will store liquids, the basket itself absorbs some of the fluid and keeps the contents cool through evaporation.
