Swaziland is a year round destination although rain falls in the summer, from December to April, making the countryside green and lush, whereas winters, although mild, can be very dry.

There are two major Swazi rituals that are worth seeing and you may want to time your trip around them.

Ncwala is the first fruit ceremony and it celebrates the beginning of the rainy season in late December or early January (according to the moon).

The Umhlanga (Reed Dance) occurs in late August or early September.
