Mkhaya Game Reserve

Standard safari camp in the Mkhaya Game Reserve in Swaziland.

  • Conservation Project - the reserve now houses a large number of rhino because of this very interesting project, which is definitely worth chatting to the manager about.

  • Rustic Cottages - a unique aspect of Stone Camp's cottages is that they are semi-open to the bush, giving you a great feeling of space, and of sleeping under the African sky.

  • Intimate Game Encounters - the game is very relaxed, enabling you to get up close and potentially providing great photographic opportunities.

Mkhaya Game Reserve, in the southeast of Swaziland, is home to the Reilly's Rehabilitation project. The vegetation in the reserve consists of acacia thornveld in the south and sandveld in the north, criss-crossed by dry riverbeds and dotted with waterholes.

You can enjoy a game drive in open Land Rovers with a local guide. Mkhaya is staffed and patrolled entirely by Swazi people and the guides are very knowledgeable about the wildlife and surrounding vegetation. Sightings of elephant and white rhino are common, and the reserve is also home to black rhino and other endangered species including roan and sable antelope. Other activities include morning game walks.

Location

Mkhaya Game Reserve is a refuge for endangered species in the southeast of Swaziland.
