Tanzania Travel Regions

Tanzania is a huge country and is divided into 26 administrative regions. For the traveller however it is more helpful to think of Tanzania in terms of the three major travel areas.

The Northern safari circuit is the most famous route along which are some of Africa's most spectacular wilderness attractions.

Southern and western Tanzania is still relatively unexplored, more off-the-beaten track. That's said, the area's prominence as one of Africa's best wilderness regions is quickly catapulting it to safari celebrity super status.

Then of course, there's the coast of Tanzania, off which a few perfectly placed islands live atop the Indian Ocean - sparkling like the ancient jewellery of old gods.
