Explore northern Tanzania's best big game areas on this exciting 7-day African safari.
Travel through Tanzania's scenic highlands to Lake Manyara National Park, where your camp on the rim of the Great Rift Valley offers spectacular views of the plains below.
Set off into the hilly countryside and arrive at the vast Serengeti National Park, before carrying on into the Ngorongoro Crater where you'll explore the many habitats of the thousands of animals that make it their home.
Finally head into the game-rich area of Tarangire National Park before making your way back to Arusha.
Your northern Tanzania safari begins today as you depart Arusha and pass through the Masai Steppe, a beautiful part of the country filled with many picturesque African villages, and maize, coffee and banana plantations interspersed with baobab and acacia trees.
At the town of Makayuni you turn north-west and continue up a scenic escarpment that brings you to the Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, perched on the edge of the Great Rift Valley with spectacular views over the distant lake.
Relax and enjoy a sundowner as you absorb the beauty of the African plains.

Today it's up early for a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy a short breakfast beforehand and then spend a few hours marvelling at the flora and fauna of Manyara.
Return to the lodge for lunch and then set off into the hilly countryside of the highlands; you're on your way to the Ngorongoro Conservancy. From here lie the vast Serengeti plains, a wildlife haven where you'll surely start spotting game well before you arrive at Serengeti Sopa Lodge.

Experience a true 'Out of Africa' feeling as you set off into the wide expanses of the Serengeti National Park on a morning and late afternoon game drive. Travel through miles of tawny grasslands, acacia tree forests and along spectacular ridges in the hope of spotting the Big 5.
Return for a relaxed dinner around the fire and enjoy the peaceful bush atmosphere.

After breakfast you'll depart for the Ngorongoro Crater, often called the world's largest wildlife zoo due to the abundance of game. Travel across the Serengeti and stop off at Olduvai Gorge for a scenic tour.
The gorge is about 50km long and in some places around 90m deep, and is famed for its early inhabitants, archeological findings and striking views.
Enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch before continuing towards to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater where you'll stay overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.

Today you'll descend into the crater, which is shaped like a massive bowl in green, brown, blue and even purple hues. After breakfast you'll make your way through the early morning mists and descend 600m into the crater itself, one of the world's seven natural wonders.
From forest and swamps to lakes, springs, open grassland and even sandy dunes, the Ngorongoro Crater has many diverse habitats where thousands of animals make their home.
Return to the lodge for lunch followed by an afternoon excursion into a Maasai village. Return in the late afternoon for sundowners and dinner around the fire.

Travel out of the Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast and head south-east to another of Tanzania's great national parks - Tarangire. En route you'll pass by Lake Manyara, Mto wa Mbu village and the highland Karatu district.
Remember to look out for the scenic wheat plains and coffee plantations in this area before journeying down the escarpment to turn south onto the main Arusha-Dodoma road.
Enjoy a game drive to the Tarangire Sopa Lodge where you'll arrive for lunch and a swim. In the late afternoon you'll head back out into the park for a final game drive before arriving back at camp for a delicious dinner.

Your journey back to Arusha today will pass through the scenic African villages of the Masai steppe before arriving at Arusha town centre where your tour ends.
