Ngorongoro Accommodation on the Crater Rim

Ideally, you'll want to stay at one of the three luxury lodges located on the rim. These are by far the best properties in the region and offer you exclusivity, luxury and a setting that defies description. From here private guides will drive you down onto the crater floor and usher you into the crater.

The high number of vehicles that descend into the crater can feel a little intrusive in what is otherwise a wild and peaceful place.

By staying on the Ngorongoro Crater rim, you can descend into the crater at the early 7am opening time when there's hardly anyone in the crater, as most people choose to have breakfast before embarking on a journey into the crater.

There is one campsite located on the rim. Simba Campsite is a spartan place with facilities limited to a rubbish pit and cold showers.
