Great rolling herds of wildlife compete for survival on seemingly endless grassy savannahs whose names are synonymous with Africa: the Serengeti National Park]] and Masai Mara. Lush tropical forests cling to the slopes of the world's largest volcanic caldera, the teeming Ngorongoro Crater and the region is home to Olduvai Gorge, called the "Cradle of Mankind” by archaeologists. Over it all loom some of the mightiest mountains in Africa - Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, with lesser peaks rolling away into the distance. This is the land of red-blanketed Maasai (Masai) warriors who still herd their cattle through prides of lions and past elephants and rhinos with impunity.
