A superb 270-degree view awaits you at Rufiji River camp which is situated in the north-eastern part of the Selous Game Reserve on a high bank overlooking the mighty Rufiji River and the plain beyond.

The camp itself is a simple affair, consisting of permanent tented accommodation with an open-sided, palm thatch restaurant and bar.

Besides walking safaris and 4x4 excursions, a major attraction at Rufiji River Camp is the boat trip along the Rufiji River and the adjoining lakes where hippo, crocodile and 400 species of bird can be observed. Sport fishing facilities are available.

Rufiji River Camp is located in the Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania.

The central restaurant at Rufiji River Camp provides excellent exotic and international cuisine and the menu includes wild impala and warthog, for which the camp has a license to take an allocation each year.

The bar serves a wide choice of beverages which you can slowly sip while you enjoy the view over the river.

Rufiji's 20 tents are positioned to face the sun setting over the river. The tents are furnished with comfortable beds, walled en suite facilities, mosquito netting and the creature comforts of a lodge.

Each tent also has a private veranda under a roof of local straw (makuti) that creates the perfect place for reading, writing or just resting in the shade.
