Though not as severe a threat as in other countries and areas, malaria remains a health concern in the Serengeti National Park and you should take measures to protect yourself from it with prophylactics, long-sleeved clothing and mosquito repellent.
The drinking water is the park is generally safe. Authorities will recommend you partake in the ecological disaster of plastic-bottled water, but that's up to you.
The Serengeti National Park is a safe place to be, as long as you stay in your vehicle. You'll only be in serious danger if you put yourself there, by climbing into a crocodile-infested river or teasing a lion, for instance.
