The environment of the Serengeti National Park is characterised by its endless, rolling plains. The plains, spreading from the park's southeastern corner make up one third of the park's entire area.
From January to April, the plains provide grazing for the thousands of hoofed mammals that begin to congregate on them. It's here that the calving season takes place and predators are therefore highly concentrated in this section of the park.
