Kirawira, situated on a hilltop overlooking the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park, offers you a luxurious safari experience. The open-sided design of the public areas keeps you constantly in touch with nature. You will feel like you have stepped back in time when you enter the elegant central meeting tent furnished with chaises-longues, carved rocking chairs and a mahogany Edwardian bar. The swimming pool, with its plunge-bath, waterfall and timbered viewing deck, is a great place to relax on a steamer chair, in the shade of a parasol, and take in the sights and sounds of the surrounding bush.

Kirawira is close to the Grumeti River, famed for its giant crocodiles; and the surrounding vegetation is home to a wide variety of large game including the Big 5. Activities offered by the lodge include guided walks and driving safaris, fishing and sailing on Lake Victoria, bush lunches and slide presentations daily by the resident naturalist. You may even be treated to one of the biggest wildlife spectacles on earth: the annual great migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle.

Both luncheons and dinners at Kirawira are 5-course affairs with lavish roasts, followed by home-made sorbets, local cheese boards and fresh-brewed Arabica coffee. To complement your meal you can choose a bottle from the lodge's extensive collection of both local and imported wines.

The elegant dining tents feature Edwardian-styled furniture, sprung floors and delicate blue and white china.

Kirawira accommodation is comprised of 25 luxurious double tents set on wooden platforms. Each has a spacious en-suite bathroom with a tiled Edwardian shower and twin marble washstands. The tents are furnished with a dressing table, writing table & steamer-trunk wardrobe, and decorated with brass lamps & sepia photographs.

You can enjoy a champagne cocktail on the private, raised terrace of your tent as you look out across the Serengeti.
