Nestled in a remote pocket of Tarangire National Park, Swala is sited under a canopy of large acacia trees at the edge of the Gurusi wetlands and the rolling savannah beyond.

Tarangire is renowned for its spectacular baobabs, large elephant herds, prolific birdlife and dry season concentrations of wildlife.

As an exceptionally private safari hideaway, with no other camps located nearby, Swala offers you private game viewing, wilderness luxury, and a truly wild Africa still untouched by mass tourism.

The park is named after the Tarangire River, which in the dry season, becomes the area's main lifeline, attracting much game, notably large elephant herds, kudu and oryx.

Situated near these precious watering holes, Swala is ideally located for game viewing, which can be done from the camp, as well as game-viewing drives in open-topped 4x4 vehicles.

Swala's hosts, personal tent attendants, safari guides and Masai askaris that accompany you to your tent at night, enhance your stay with personalised service and local knowledge.

The camp has also initiated various community development and conservation projects, which you are welcome to learn about and become involved in as part of you stay.
