Mnemba is a tiny, privately owned island about a kilometre offshore from Zanzibar. It forms part of the Mnemba Atoll, which is much larger but mostly submerged in the Indian Ocean. The island is vintage beach paradise - white coral sand, wild coastal bush and a small forest of casuarina trees.

The reefs just offshore are excellent snorkelling and diving spots, and there are large coral cliffs 40 metres deep, that are accessible from the Mnemba Island Lodge. This is one of the few places in the world where you can dive with whale sharks, the world's largest fish.
