In terms of tourism, a Zanzibar Holiday is much more advanced than the rest of Tanzania, and there are numerous international hotels on the island. There is also a large variety of accommodation on offer, ranging from luxury hotels to sea-side cottages. Camping however, is not allowed anywhere on the island.

Stone Town has a fine suite of great hotels - which themselves offer a haven from the energetic life in Zanzibar. The best way to experience the island is to couple a brief stay in Stone Town - the cultural heart of the island - with a stay at one of the beautiful beach hotels.

The east coast of Zanzibar Island features several establishments on the beach, ranging from small and intimate properties to larger resorts. Great lodges can be found on Pemba Island, and there is also very exclusive accommodation available on the smaller Mnemba Island.
