Fumba Beach Lodge is the ideal getaway for those looking for a bit of peace and tranquility, a place to unwind and forget the hectic pace of real life.

The only lodge offering accommodation on the beautiful Fumba Peninsular, Fumba Beach Lodge is perfectly situated in 40 acres of wilderness and on 2km of pristine coastline with three sandy beaches for you to enjoy.

The rooms are scattered throughout the grounds, amongst the mighty baobab trees which are often integrated into the architecture of the lodge.

All of this is set in Menai Bay - an area of outstanding natural beauty, established as a conservation area by the World Wildlife Federation (WWF) and designed to give locals in the Fumba area a vested interest in their environment so they will protect their natural resource. A day in Menai Bay can be filled with snorkelling through the thriving coral reefs, the strong possibility of spotting an indo-pacific humpback or bottlenose dolphin and a ride in a traditional wind driven raft called a 'ngalawa'.

If one wants to get even closer to the under sea world, PADI approved scuba courses are available for the real beginner, as well as the more experienced diver.

No visit to the island of Zanzibar is complete without a visit to the culturally rich capital of Stone Town, and Fumba Lodge, within 30 minutes drive, is perfectly situated for a day trip. The lodge will organise a half day tour for you, taking you through the narrow, winding streets to introduce you to the various markets, unmissable sites and anywhere else your interest lies.

Other tours are also available through the lodge, such as the Spice Tour that will awaken your senses with a visit to the famous spice farms of the spice island. There are also walking tours for all levels of fitness through the Jozani Forest, 35 km southeast of Zanzibar and overloaded with local wildlife, from graceful butterflies to cheeky monkeys.

All of this with the ability to return to the peaceful atmosphere of the Fumba Beach Lodge where you can further relax at the Baobab Massage Parlour or merely sip on your cocktail as you contemplate paradise.

The Restaurant and Lounge Bar provides a charming outdoor setting for the local and international specialties that are served by attentive staff. The fresh seafood comes highly recommended, as do all the meals.

In keeping with the relaxed atmosphere of the lodge, the beach bar, Dhow FumBar is the perfect place to kick back and relax with an expertly made cocktail as you watch the sun go down. Constructed from an authentic Zanzibari Dhow and wrapped around a large Baobab, where else could you be but on your paradise island?

Fumba Beach Lodge has 26 rooms scattered around their extensive grounds, which ensures that you always have a sense of space and privacy as you go about your holiday.

One can choose between the airy, en suite, deluxe rooms, each of which has a lovely sea view from their private terrace; and the Luxury Suites which have the added advantage of being able to bathe with a view - either in the open air shower or sitting in a bath with a view of the ocean. Each Luxury Suite also boasts its own private roof terrace.

The Baobab Suites are for the honeymooners and romantics as each suite, with its four poster bed and mosquito nets, is cradled in a Baobab tree.
