On a deserted beach on the northern tip of Zanzibar stands Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel, which is built from fossilized coral limestone and literally blends into the landscape. An eco-sensitive approach has ensured that the delicate balance of land and sea is preserved so as to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings.
The hotel's lush gardens are crossed by a myriad of palm shaded pathways which drop down onto one of the finest and most unspoilt beaches on the island, and which in turn is fringed by a wide and thriving coral reef.
Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel is an ideal location for all forms of water sports and is a perfect diving destination with its proximity to some of Zanzibar's best reefs. It has a fully equipped PADI diving centre on site and a resident diving instructor to ensure you experience the underwater world.
Other activities include mountain biking through the surrounding areas, excursions to Stone Town and Jozani Forest, and a spice tour. If you're keen on relaxing, then long beach strolls or a soothing massage is a perfect way to unwind.

Enjoy gourmet evenings under the stars on the fabled Spice Island. Known for its fine cuisine, the chefs at Ras Nungwi prepare elegant and appetising menus from an abundance of local ingredients, including fresh coconut and aromatic spices, a fine array of seafood and plenty of tropical fruit.
Start your day with a choice of a full English breakfast or continental buffet. Lunch is chosen from the à la carte menu and dinner is a 5-course affair, although buffet and barbeque dinners are also normally offered during the week.
To complement your meals the hotel's restaurant has the most extensive wine list in the region, selected to appeal to all palettes and tastes. With the exception of the French champagnes, all wines are chosen from award-winning South African vineyards.
All 32 rooms at the Ras Nungwi are tastefully furnished, with hand-crafted 4-poster beds and indigenous decor, and all have balconies, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and en-suite facilities.
